Big Plans! Big!

You may be wondering why I haven’t written in a while. I know that springtime for us can be filled with lots of things to do, house chores when the weather improves from winter’s stranglehold, various boat projects du jour, and finally getting out on the water for some relaxation. Have I been overcome by a bout of writer’s block? Don’t I have anything to say? I promise you that nothing of the sort has happened! In fact, I have written a lot in the last couple of months, but I haven’t felt like any of it was worthy of…

Ten Years of Progress

Ten years ago in the spring of 2006, Marge and I set out on a crazy adventure. Instead of sailing off on the boat to faraway lands unknown and probably spending every last cent we had to “Live the Dream” of being Sailing Cruisers, we purchased 10 acres of forest land adjacent to the Douglas County Forest in Brule, Wisconsin. 2016 – New Year looking forward

I’m going to try to keep this blog post short and sweet.  The reason I haven’t written is that I’ve been busy.  That sounds like an excuse to even me, so here’s a short list of what we’ve been up to since mid-December. I spent an entire day working on getting our Sail Wandering Toes YouTube Channel tweaked and looking…

2015 Year End Projects

Well, I guess the season is over.  Way over, I suppose, but we never really stop thinking and planning and putzing with boat projects.  It was fantastic to attend Bill and Ella’s holiday marina gathering last weekend.  I didn’t do an official count, but it seemed like there were 30 people from the marina at least.  The food was great, it was really nice to see everyone and catch up, and Oh My Gosh the sailing conversations were EPIC!  I loved it!  Everyone got to spend lots of quality time visiting and talking and just being part of our “Sailing…

Winterized – 2015

Friday night we got to the boat about 6pm and dove right into the project of getting the water system winterized.  It took an hour, but all went well.  We emptied and cleaned out the water tank and ran antifreeze through the plumbing lines.  We also cleaned out and dried the bilge so that’s done for winter too.  Saturday morning we got everything ready and had the boat pulled out of the water around 10:30am.  By 11:30 it was all set on its cradle and safely on land for the winter.  It was a beautiful day and we walked up…
