2016, Where has the time gone?

Where has the time gone?  The future seems to roll over us at 1000 miles an hour with little regard to our plans or desires.  While I’m excited for the future and we have many exciting plans, we all continue to be plagued by the ordinary tasks of achieving or maintaining our everyday existence while our grand plans get the leftovers in terms of savings and energy and time.  I wonder how many of our most sincere hopes for ourselves and our loved ones will succumb to the steamroller of time and the inevitability of wishing for too many things…

Happy 100th Birthday Angie!

Wow!  It’s a rare thing really.  I don’t know if I’ve ever met a centenarian before, but tomorrow will be Marge’s Mom’s 100th birthday.  And it’s a difficult thing to wrap your mind around.  Angie was born on Tuesday March 7th, 1916.  36,525 days ago. Does that number not seem like much?  For historical perspective, Angie was born when Woodrow Wilson was president.  One day after Angie was born, the Mexican Revolutionary Pancho Villa led about 500 Mexican raiders in an attack against New Mexico, and the U.S. 13th Cavalry Regiment fought back and drove them away.  A week later,…

Labor Day – 2015

I’m writing my first real blog post today.  So if you’re seeing this, you are right at the very beginning.  It’s Labor Day today, 2015, and I’ve spent most of the weekend setting up our first real website www.sailwanderingtoes.com.  It’s not much to look at yet, but as in everything I do, I have big dreams.
